Essex County, Virginia Orders #5 - Page 638, 21 Mar 1721; Richard Brissendine petition against Thomas Dean mentions Mary Brissendine - wife of Richard Brizendine.  Note also Essex County, Virginia Will Book 1736 - 1743, Pg 149-150, 152-153, 7 Oct 1738 - Will of Anne Davis in which Anne Davis appointed her daughter Mary Brisendine Executrix of her estate with Evan Davis as security.  However, Richard's will names his wife as Elizabeth Brizendine.  See Essex County, Virginia Wills, Bonds and Inventories - Book 7, 1743-1747 (Reel 43), pp. 149-153, 7 Oct 1738.  Since Mary was the oldest child of Anne, Mary was too young to be William's wife.  Mary Davis Brisindine is likely the wife of Richard Brizendine, and Mary Davis Brizendine is probably related to Evan Davis who was listed as security in William Brizendine's estate.
  3. Essex County, Virginia Orders #5 - Page 153, 17 Jul 1718; Richard Brizsendent action against Owen Owens, dismissed.  Richard had to be 21 to file such an action, which means he had to be 21.  He was therefore born before 17 Jul 1697.
  4. John Brizendine, the son of Richard, sold land in 1744 and would have been required to be 21.  He was therefore born before 1723.  Richard and Mary were most likely married before 1723.
  5. The will of Richard Brizendine was drawn up on 15 Jan 1743 in Essex Co., Va.  It was executed on 17 Apr 1749.  See Essex County, Virginia Wills, Bonds and Inventories - Book 7, 1743-1747 (Reel 43), Pages 128-129 (Will pro. 17 Apr. 1744), 130-131 (Exors. bond rec. 17 Apr. 1744), 161-164 (Inv. & appr. rec. 15 May 1744), Part of index to Essex County Wills and Administrations (1692-1800).

Deed Book 17 - Page 37-40).  The record reads as follows: "An indenture made on 5/8/1722 in Essex County, Va. between James Bradberry and Richard Brisindine.  Sold to Richard Brisindine for 1500 pounds of tobacco - 40 acres that was formerly part of 120 actres granted to Thomas Patterson and Richard Bridgat - Southfarnham Parish - North side of Dragon Swamp".

  7. Mary's son John was born before 1723.  Assuming Mary was at least 16 at the time of his birth, she would have been born before 1707.
  8. Mary is not listed on any Virginia tax lists beginning in year 1782.
