Footnotes
  1. Essex County, Virginia Orders #7 - Page 280, 18 Mar 1728.  Ann Brizendine gives oath that William had no will.  On the same date in 1728, Ann Brizindine posted L200 bond as administratrix of William Brizindine.  Securities were Evan Davis and Richard Brizindine, signed by Ann Brizendine and Evan J. Davis.  See Essex County, Virginia Wills Etc. #4 1722-1730 (Reel 40), Brizendine [Brizindine], William, 1729.  Adms. bond rec. 18 Mar. 1728 - p. 287a-288, Inv. & appr. rec. 20 May 1729 - p. 287a-288, Note: Part of index to Essex County Wills and Administrations (1692-1800).  Form: Estate inventories. aat.

Ann was most likely William's wife rather than William's daughter because she is the admistratrix and posted the bond.  If Ann were the daughter, she would probably be married, and her brother Richard would have probably posted the bond.
  2. William's son Richard was born before 1698, when William was most likely 21 or older.  William was therefore probably born before 1677.  William Brizendine, son of Richard I, was godson to Thomas Wattkins Sr, who left him a cow in his will in 1702.  He must have been born in Virginia since Thomas Wattkins is of record in Rappahannock as early as 1682 (Nugent I-262/240).
  3. William's son Richard was born before 1698, so William and Ann were probably married before 1698
  4. See Essex County, Virginia Wills Etc. #4, p. 286a, 287a-288 listed above.
  5. Several documents place William in Essex County, Virginia from 1708 through 1728:

    • County, Virginia Orders #3, p. 402, 10 Mar 1708: William Bristedine, action of debt dismissed against Richard Cooper
    • William, with Mary Brysidine (possibly his mother) witnessed a deed in 1708 for James Aires
    • 1717 receipt from William Brissindine to estate of Henry Byrom.  Estate settled 16 Sep 1724 (p 77-78)
    • Essex Conty, Virginia Orders #5, Page 343, 18 Mar 1719 - William Brissendine was security for Mary Acres, administrator of the estate of John Acres
    • Essex County, Virginia Deed Book #18, p. 352-352a.  In 1728 William bought land from the Williamson family.  The text is as follows: An indenture made 7/15-16/1728 between John Williamson and William Brizindine of Southfarnham Parish - Essex County - sold to William Brizindine for 3600 pounds of tobacco - 100 acres of land....
  6. Ann's son Richard was born before 1698.  Assuming Ann was at least 16 at the time of his birth, she would have been born before 1682.
  7. Ann posted L200 bond as administratror of William Brizindine in 1728
