COLLECTION Virginia wills and administrations. 1743- Last Will and Testament if Richard Brizendine IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen. I Richard Brizendine of South Franklin parrish in Essex County Plantes calling to mind the uncertanty of Life and being desirous of settling my Temporal affairs in such manner while I m in perfect memory that I may in my last moments pay those Dutyes to my Lord and Savior with the Resignation Do therefore Dispose of my estate which it hath pleased God in Great mercy and Goodness to Bless me with in this life in the manner following. Imprimis I lend to my Loving wife one hundred acres of land which I bought of Rob Leveritt laying on the Dragon Swamp during her Natural Life and I lend my wife in the use of my Negroes with all my Personal estate during her natural life and after her Death I give one Negro woman Named Nell, to my son Isaac Brizendine to him and his heirs forever. Item; I give and Bequeath to my son John Brisendine one hundred acres of land that I bought of Major John Baylor to him and his heirs forever. Item; I give and Bequeath to my son Francis Brizendine the land I lent my wife, after her death, to him and his heirs for Ever, I Further give and Bequeath all my Estate to be equally divided among my children after the death of my said wife. Finally I make and ordain my loving wife Executrix of this my Last will and Testament Revoking all others heretofore by me made Ratifying this and none others to be my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and fixed my Seal this 15th day of January 1743. At a Court held for Essex County at Sapp on the 17th day of April Anno Dom 1749. This Last Will and Testament or Richard Brizendine deceased, was presented in Court by Elizabeth Brizendine Executrix thereon named who made Oath thereto and being also proved by the oaths of all witnesses thereto was admitted to Record and hereby Recorded. 4/17/1744 the will is presented in court for probation by Executrix, Elizabeth Brizendine.
