Biography
Randy has been writing music since he was young. His composing career began by
going to the piano and playing tunes he heard on the radio, which soon led to writing his
own songs. He studied both classical piano and violin for over ten years before
taking music performance and composition classes at Brigham Young University.
Between 1988 and 1991 he performed with the BYU Philharmonic and BYU Chamber Orchestra.
Inspired by the recordings of John Rutter and the Cambridge Singers, he also began writing
choral music at about this time.
Since his start with piano solos and choral works, Randy has now published more than 20 compositions and
arrangements as sheet music through
Hinshaw Music and Randy's own sheet music publishing
company, Beata Music.
Though he grew up with a strong background in traditional orchestral music, Randy also writes music with
contemporary elements.
Just out of college and earning enough money for a little equipment, he created his first home digital
studio in 1995. After about ten years working as a computer programmer, Randy began
writing music to picture in 2006. Since then he has written music for three feature films,
an animated short film, and nearly 10 television commercials.
Randy continues to operate out of a studio in his home as composer, arranger, orchestrator, copyist,
and conductor for various projects.
Randy was born in Twin Falls, Idaho and currently lives thirty minutes south of Salt Lake City, Utah
with his wife and four children.
