Alexander is listed in at least three census records near Cocke County, Tennessee: 1850, 1870, and 1880. These records show a birth year of 1832 or 1833. There must be other information proving the 1831 birth year. His connection to his parents lies in the 1850 census with his parents and the 1870 census where his mother is living with him.
